Nov. 16th, 2007 10:48 amI don't like the warrant-less surveillance crap. There is no reason, no reason at all for domestic anti-terrorism efforts not to be overseen by a court, even if it is secretive, like FISA. I am therefore glad there is a move to overwrite W's initiatives on this.
What pisses me off though is that it's the Democrats who display the privacy-minded activities. What happened to the old Conservative values? Republican Party used to be a party of privacy. What happened to that? Why are all those R- senators giving party-aligned speeches about "giving our intelligence community the tools they need"?
I don't mind the tools, but I find it necessary for warrants to be issued as the "checks and balances" nature intended.

Leonid meteor shower peaks Nov 17-18
Nov. 16th, 2007 02:30 pm11pm Eastern is the peak time, but Leo will still be below horizon at that time for us Northern Americans.
Last time I was crazy enough to brave November cold on a beach for hours during the night, that is in 2002, meteors started to appear out of the South-Eastern quadrant around 3am. If you live on Coney Island, this is good news since South-East means away from city lights.
