The politically correct crowd is fucking nuts.

SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.

Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.

One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.

University of Delaware Requires Students to Undergo Ideological Reeducation

NEWARK, Del., October 30, 2007—The University of Delaware subjects students in its residence halls to a shocking program of ideological reeducation that is referred to in the university’s own materials as a “treatment” for students’ incorrect attitudes and beliefs. The Orwellian program requires the approximately 7,000 students in Delaware’s residence halls to adopt highly specific university-approved views on issues ranging from politics to race, sexuality, sociology, moral philosophy, and environmentalism.

[...]
The university’s views are forced on students through a comprehensive manipulation of the residence hall environment, from mandatory training sessions to “sustainability” door decorations. Students living in the university’s eight housing complexes are required to attend training sessions, floor meetings, and one-on-one meetings with their Resident Assistants (RAs). The RAs who facilitate these meetings have received their own intensive training from the university, including a “diversity facilitation training” session at which RAs were taught, among other things, that “[a] racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system. The term applies to all white people (i.e., people of European descent) living in the United States, regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality.”

I take it upon myself to reprint what FIRE quotes from the full University Of Delaware's Office Of Residence training manual.

Read this and weep.
----

A RACIST: A racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system. The term applies to all white people (i.e., people of European descent) living in the United States, regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality. By this definition, people of color cannot be racists, because as peoples within the U.S. system, they do not have the power to back up their prejudices, hostilities, or acts of discrimination. (This does not deny the existence of such prejudices, hostilities, acts of rage or discrimination.)" - Page 3

I didn't know this organization existed, but I am glad it does. Apparently, some people are indeed fed up with what's going on with civil liberties (or lack thereof) at our universities, and are fighting back.

Enter FIRE - Foundation for Individual Rights in Education.

They take the fight to the university administrators across the country, speaking up for students and their rights to due process, freedom of speech, freedom of conscience and freedom of religion. Do click the links, people. They will show you just how many cases there are on each issue across the country.

From what I see the organization does not appear partisan but rather centered on pursuing the letter and spirit of the US Constitution, something our "educators" would rather forget exists.

Why is it that all really cool shows on TV get canceled for one reason or another?

"Sports Night", "Mind of a Married Man", "Deadwood", "Dead Like Me". Really cool shows with big ratings all of them. But something always gets in the way - egos, money, "creative differences".

I just found out that "Dead Like Me" was in fact canceled, and apparently a while ago. The show had such an interesting angle on life and was beautifully acted. And now it's done for. Well, they say they may bring it back to life on another network...I guess Showtime is only good for gay and lesbian material these days. That stuff runs on it for years.

Not to say there isn't anything at all -- at least "The Wire" on HBO is still alive, but most of the time if you want to watch something, you'll be stuck watching reruns of "Law and Order".
