Вдруг подумалось, что русские девушки, живущие тут, снимают праздничные сливки с обеих культур.

Обязательные к исполнению праздники:

Valentine's Day
March 8
Birthday
Wedding Anniversary
Mother's Day

Optional для замужних, обязательно для незамужних: First Date Day (я не шучу)

И жалуются при этом на отсутствие внимания :)

вааще не знаю о чём речь. мне лично глубоко пофиг все эти праздники. воистину счастливые люди празднуют любовь каждый день, вне графика. а общепринятые праздники или там всякие календарные дни типа "день первого поцелуя" или "день первого полового акта", это так, хм-хм, не знаю даже как бы покультурнее выразиться.

А мужчины чё, нет?

I think the genders are just about equal, no? :)

P.S. And about celebrating the anniversary of a first kiss, first date, first hiking trip, or whatever, I think those are actually the most meaningful days because they mean nothing to anyone else except that couple. But I may just be a romantic. :)

Not entirely true :)

I dont know any guys who give a damn about Valentine's Day or a Wedding Anniversary (personally, not because the gf/wife does and will kill them if they forget).

First Date -- dont make me laugh, most men don't remember when that was or under what circumstances. Same goes for first kiss. We may remember the first f***, though :)

Feb 23rd is a man's day in the sense of getting together with the boys and having a drink, not in a sense of the attention from the wife. We dont mind that kind of attention of course though that goes for any day of the week ;)

Birthday and Father's Day -- I'll grant you those two.

I think women make a bigger deal out of these occasions because they are the ones being taken out, wined and dined, in relationships where chivalry is still in existence. ;) The sentimental value of various anniversaries is about the same for both men and women, I'd say....at least the ones that I know. Sure, there are men who couldn't care less about Valentine's Day, but there are plenty of women who feel the same way. And about Feb 23rd, you should scold your female friends if you don't get attention because I certainly congratulate my male friends on that day. :)
Igor proposed a "Steak and Blow-Job Day" to balance Valentine's Day though, so maybe that one will wind up on the calendar soon. =P

--conclusion: women who want the guy to remember the first date and first kiss should have both first kiss and first f*** on the first date :)
