Nationally, the black market is the source for guns used in more than 90 percent of gun crimes. Since Bloomberg became mayor in 2002, every gun homicide in the city has been committed with an illegal gun, police say. (emphasis mine - DM)

So they admit it themselves that licensed people are unlikely to commit homicides. And yet in the City every owner has to register every single firearm he has, as if license with fingerprints is not enough. When are they going to understand that licensed people are unlikely to buy guns for committing crime?

You are wrong in assuming that when it comes to gun-control our municipal goverment actual goal coincides with their stated goal (i.e. the reduction of crime). They only say that the reason for anti-gun legislation is fighting crime so the public would support this anti-Constitutional shit. The actual idea is to get more easily controllable population. Subjects instead of citizens. Not for some especially sinister purpose. Just on a general principle. Every person who has control over other people is inclined to try to increase the level of this control.
