The sun shines through a haze as it rises over King Mountain in the Matanuska Valley, Alaska. The haze is the result of smoke from Russian wildfires, and sandstorms in Mongolia's Gobi Desert.

Is it possible to breath there? And how far is Matanuska from Russian Chukotka?

I'm sure it is possible to breathe. The haze is caused by the presence of particles carried east by the stratospheric air currents. Matanuska is at least a thousand miles off Bering Straight. And Gobi is way farther than that.

So it means that being lifted up somewhere in Asia this haze falls down right to Matanuska?
