DMV

Amazingly enough, DMV was not half bad. In and out in one hour six minutes. That included standing in three lines and having my bad picture taken. Also included an major act of kindness from an employee who processed my initial paperwork. I was apparently in a wrong line -- although it said "NYS Renewals" -- since I was renewing with the enhanced "passport" option. She was nice not to turn me around into a much longer "general" line and processed me anyway.

Got a notice from my HC provider -- they will be asking NYS for a -- ready? -- 46% increase in premiums. And I thought 35% or so last year was a lot.

Affordable care my ass, Mr President.

NGC 5194

Известная как NGC 5194, эта большая галактика с хорошо развитой спиральной структурой, возможно, была первой обнаруженной спиральной туманностью. Хорошо видно, что ее спиральные рукава и пылевые полосы проходят перед галактикой-спутником – NGC 5195 (слева). Эта пара находится на расстоянии около 31 миллиона световых лет и официально принадлежит маленькому созвездию Гончих Псов.
