Well, that didn't take long.

Here's Chucky Schumer introducing a legislation about bailing out the "victims" of subprime mortgage collapse (see my two posts on this here and here).
NEW YORK (Reuters) -- The federal government should offer troubled borrowers hundreds of millions of dollars to bail them out of subprime mortgage loans, several leading Democratic lawmakers said on Wednesday.

"The federal government can send in an infusion of [money] to prevent foreclosure," said Charles Schumer, a New York Democrat.

The cash infusion is needed right away and should go to both help fund community groups aiding troubled borrowers and to directly fund bailouts, Schumer said.

God-Fucking-Dammit. Leave it to our asshole politicians to completely forfeit personal responsibility. Bail out every sorry asshole who wasn't supposed to have a mortgage in the first place because he didn't have money/credit but got said mortgage anyway with "strings" attached from a company that couldn't calculate risks.

Bail him out -- his kittens look sad (c) [livejournal.com profile] rkatsyv

Taxpayers money for everyone!!!

I sincerely hope Senator Chucky wont have too much support in Congress, even a Democrat-dominated one, to pull this off and we'll simply write this into the annals of bullshit political posturing.

PS. Chuck Schumer's HQ phone number is 212-486-4430 (dank wel LT). If you have a problem with him paying delinquent mortgages with your tax dollars, give Chucky an angry phone call. Or you can email him here

On Imus

Don Imus is an idiot.

There's no denying it so I wont spend time doing that. Should he lose his job? I don't know, it's up to his employers, I guess. Normally, people who say stupid shit like that in public are at least reprimanded, and they should be. But that isn't the point.

What pisses me off a lot more that Imus's idiocy is the hypocritical bullshit surrounding him now. Look at all our "civil rights leaders" like Sharpton and Jackson yelling about how insulting this is. Now Obama and Clinton pitched in as well, calling for Imus's dismissal.

I wonder why nobody says dick about rap in this context. Rappers call women 'bitches and hoes' all the time.

Where's the outrage? Where are the demonstrations in front of recording companies that produce rap records? Where is Obama condemning rappers who "insult and degrade" women?

I guess when a rapper says it on a record -- it's part of the "culture", and it's only uncool if an old white guy says it on the radio.

UPD: Well said here

UPD2: Jesse Jackson once called New York City "hymietown" (you do the math on what that means). And this shithead is now expressing his "outrage" to us. Geez.

Steven Camarota, research director of the Center for Immigration Studies, has authored a well-documented report titled “Immigration from Mexico: Assessing the Impact on the United States” which relies heavily on U.S. census information. This study demolishes the smug assertions of Vicente Fox and George Bush.

First of all, America is not in dire need of unskilled workers; immigration from Mexico is not necessary. The bracero program that admitted Mexican agricultural workers from 1943 until 1964 was not necessary to ensure food production; it was a union busting tactic. If the demand for labor exceeded the supply, then the wages of unskilled Americans would be increasing. In truth, the wages of poorly educated full-time workers declined 7.2 percent in the 1990s even as the wages of other workers increased. Mexican immigrants, legal and illegal, do not compete with professors, journalists or business big wigs, but they do make it harder for working-class Americans to make a living. The very existence of the bracero program jump started a parallel flow of illegal migration that continues to this day. We can stop calling them “guest workers.” As one analyst observed: “There is nothing more permanent than a temporary worker.”
