That's why they call the cat Sylvester -- cz it's Felis Silvestris Catus.

Yep. Means "of the forest", from Latin "silva". Same as in Spanish, hence the Russian word for S. American jungle: "сельва".

"Felis Silvestris" without "catus" refers to a wild cat. Domestic one is considered a subspecie. "Catus", in fact, does not mean "cat". "Felis" means "cat". "Catus" means "the shrewd/cunning one" :)
