Damn the City

Beautiful day today, so I went for a few miles beach walk from Ocean Parkway to Seagate and back.
Standing on the rock at the Western edge of Coney Island, overlooking Seagate, with a bright sunshine and blue skies overhead, and with a cool breeze blowing, I thought about how cool Seagate looks with those nicely painted beach-front houses. And how those houses contrast with the grim project towers of Surf, Mermaid and Neptune avenues just across the street from the gate. What kind of idiot would give away a prime piece of beach-front real estate to build those ghastly towers, basically condemning the area to blight? Ah, we all know the answer to that one. I just hope that one day some developer will buy the land back from the City, level those projects and build something nice in their stead.
