WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday proposed legislation that would bring American combat troops out of Iraq by August 2008 at the latest.
How nice. Withdraw troops in August before the 2008 elections and then say "See, we got our boys out of that mess, vote for us!"
I wonder if they plan on answering for the sectarian bloodbath that will follow troop withdrawal. Or do we just blame Bush and move on?

For each find a leader, willing to be "our SOB" and having a reasonable support base in his territory (like it's been done in Afghanistan), give him our full political and material support, all under one condition - his territory will be completely clean of all international terrorist organizations. And make it very clear to him that if it's not - we'll come for him and he'll go the Saddam's way. No "democracy", no BS. Then we can withdraw. ...And start thinking of doing the same thing to Iran ;)

- Baghdad is a cluster fuck - who will own it?
- Shia provinces will be either swallowed up or at best heavily influenced by Iran which hates us hence I'm not sure if this no terrorism thing would work there either;
- Kurds in the north will immediately want their own state, and will start shit to bite a piece off southern Turkey for Kurdistan, which is our ally and will be royally pissed off.
In other words, how do you prevent the corresponding warlord from being influenced enough by Iran or SA? Would simply a threat of force work?
I dont know.
