I dont have a problem with the show's organizers. I have a problem with this:

>> The association agreed to use the BMI - a calculation based on height and weight - in response to local government pressure.

The government listened to the hysteria from womens groups and started pandering, i.e. pressuring private enterprise to accept this nonsense.

And further:

>> Spain's Anorexia and Bulimia Association says if designers refuse to follow these voluntary restrictions the government should legislate to ban thin models.

You have got to appreciate the idiocy -- if you refuse to follow our voluntary restrictions, we should make them involuntary though governmental intervention.

This is just one step away from legislating said ban which will take away from the models the freedom to work at said association.

So what? Woman's groups have a right (and duty :-) to be hysterical; the local govt has a right to press companies as it sees fit for public good (taxes etc.) ; and the companies have a right to cave, if they choose so, and to fight it in courts if they choose otherwise. Above all, they all have an undeniable right to be idiots. And even above that you have a right to vote for a different government, not to use the services of such a company and not to look at fat models. As for the women's groops... Well man, you are on your own. If I were you, I would not cross them :-)))))

No, what the are you talking about? where the did you see them try to LEGISLATE something? And even if they did. I believe, the local governments in Spain are elected by people. So if spaniards do not like their government doing this kind of shit, they can vote for a different government or even recall the existing one. OK?
