Got myself my first terabyte hard drive (Hitachi DeskStar) to replace the dead 500G Western Digital (second WD to die in my 5-HD system).

A terabyte for personal use. When I started dabbling with PCs, my father's work i386 with something like 8MB or RAM and (hold your breath) two hard disks of 40 and 80MB was a monster of unheard of power.

That was summer 1989...

UPD: Nice mechanics -- when hooked up as an external device via eSATA, the drive refuses to spin up (with external carrier powered on) until I turn the PC on and SATA detects a power signal from the bus. Sweet power savings.
