I disagree.

What I had, including the procedure, was pretty mild. I didn't even have surgery in the conventional sense so I didn't need ICU and then lots of step down days, and tests and physical therapy and whatever. If a fairly simple mild procedure takes 35K, then, God forbid, if something serious happens (car accident which isn't your fault, say), the cost will run close to 100K or more.

What I am saying is -- how your insurance covers your doctors visits is up to you, but hospital stay you better have covered. Some plans cover say 80% (Lehman does, I believe). 20% of even 35K is not a small chunk of change, forget the more serious incidents.

But hey -- I'm doing this through work so it's not that bad.
