Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin, an Australian naturalist, has died after having been stung in the heart by a stingray during filming.

I liked the guy, he was a true Aussie.

The world of nature lovers will miss him dearly.

It is sad. Vadik insists that I saw this guy on Discovery.
What was the name of that guy who was killed by grizzly?
I'm curious if these people really loved nature/science that much, or was it just adventurous spirit/adrenaline rush?

The Grizzy Man was Timothy Treadwell. IMHO, he was nothing like Irwin (he had mental issues etc), plus he was not a professional, he just thought he know bears.

Irwin was a pro who had 200 million people watching his programs. His stuff seemed crazy to people but he know exactly what he was doing. His death was actually an accident cz stingrays don't usually attack anybody -- his cameraman scared the stingray and it lashed out at the first human it could reach. The shitty part is it hit Steve Irwin right in the heart and punctured it. If it were any other place, he would have lived.

Both guys were not simple dumbass adrenaline junkies. One thought he could handle a wild bear and the other fell prey to a very unfortunate accident.
