Поздравим себя -- только что заправил машину по новым, пост-Катринным ценам. $3.519 за галлон. Ещё ни разу я не платил 45 баксов за полный бак.

This is bad, but it's still less than what I paid in France 5 (!!) years ago. In 2000, regular gas was 7FF/liter which translates to $3.80/gallon. I'm sure the prices elsewhere in the world right now are way worse than our $3.519 (this was supreme, not regular).
Now, let's see that cold fusion reactor!!!

As for the cold fusion, I am a great believer in the magic powers of free market ;) As soon as oil prices will reach critical levels, suddenly major corporation will jump over each other in a bid to finance cold fusion (or some other thingamajig) R&D
