Repent, and thou shalt release!
We're doing a major app release tonight. Lots of prep work, and then somebody from second level support will do the actual deployment.
2L support manager chats on support IM group: Ok guys, I'm handing off to JC for tonight's release. I've left specific instructions for him to execute the release.
Immediate screaming in our corrale: Rejoice! We are saved! Jesus has joined Second Level! He is doing the release Himself! It can't fail now!
PS. JC is just a support dude from Mexico, not our Lord And Savior, although it makes me wonder -- if faced with a deployment of a very complex distributed system with 23 services, 7 boxes and a shared UI on a fileserver, what would Jesus do?
